Youth Development
Because of the Y, our kids are making healthier and smarter choices. In our programs, kids learn to share, build character, and more importantly, learn how to be themselves. That makes for confident kids today and contributing and engaged adults tomorrow.

Mentoring
The Reach & Rise® Mentoring Program is a program of the YMCA of the USA that is committed to youth development by nurturing the potential of kids and teens to help them achieve and reach their goals. The program is designed for youth who lack role models and are in communities challenged by poverty, crime, truancy, and single-parent households, among other social issues.

After School  Programs
The Y Academy Afterschool Program offers a full range of exciting arts, sports, and enrichment activities to spark each child's interest and provide the tools they need for academic success. Our program supports Common Core Standards, with a focus on these components:

Summer Day Camp
At Y day camp, kids can develop skills, self-confidence, new friendships, and a sense of belonging – all while having tons of fun. From games and sports to arts and crafts to outdoor adventures to science and technology, a Y day camp experience offers kids the chance to learn new things and enjoy new adventures.

Housing
Our mission is to provide a safe and supportive residential program, offering a range of programs and referrals to sustain individuals and keep families strong during periods of crisis. Our vision is to see our residents thrive in safe, long-term housing, and receive all the support they need as they work toward their goals. The Newark Y Emergency Residence Program is one of the most-trusted shelters in Essex County, with 300 beds for individuals and families. Accommodations include private rooms for families, as well as community dining areas, and laundry facilities.

We provide safe and supportive residential programs that sustain individuals and keep families strong during periods of crisis and transition.
