Newark Emergency Services for Families

We assist and support families and individuals in crisis. Assisting the homeless, low-income, and unemployed with their basic needs and support to gain self-sufficiency.

NESF provides case management and direct assistance to low-income, the working poor, and homeless individuals and families in greater Essex County. We provide the following programs and services:

Emergency Assistance
NESF provides Rental, Security Deposits, Utility, and Food Assistance to Residents of Essex County.

Supportive Assistance For Individuals and Families (SAIF)
The supportive assistance for individuals and families (SAIF) offers a safety net for those individuals who are receiving General Assistance and nearing the end of their five-year lifetime benefits. Through intensive case management, life skills training, benefits counseling, referrals to job readiness programs, linkages to medical care, and other counseling services, program participants are provided with the essentials to gain self-sufficiency.

Weequahic Family Success Center
A community resource hub located in the heart of the Southward district of Newark, NJ. The Center is built on several principles and core values that shape the work we do and how we serve the community. The Weequahic Family Success Center is a prevention program that aims to enrich the lives of children and families by strengthening families and neighborhoods. Also, to provide integrated, locally based services, reduce isolation and promote connections. This includes community education through workshops and presentations, hands-on family activities, access to health-related, employment-related, and housing-related services as well as information, supportive services, and referrals.
