Welcome to Community Day, a high-quality preschool and childcare program serving families in East Orange since 1897.  We partner with the East Orange School District to offer three- and four-year-old children a free public prekindergarten program in a warm and caring early childhood environment.  Extended hours are available for families in need of childcare before and after school.

Children must reside in East Orange and be three- or four years old by October 1.

The school is open from 7:30 am until 5:30 pm on weekdays.

To keep our school safe for all children, especially those with nut allergies, we do not allow any food to be brought into the school. Our kitchen prepares a healthy breakfast, full hot lunch, and snack daily.

Children with asthma must bring their doctor’s prescription and medication to the school before starting in class. Medication is kept in our office for use as directed by your physician.
