Better Tomorrows

Better Tomorrows provides case management services and impactful community programming to low-income adults, seniors, children, and youth residing in affordable housing communities.

Academic Support
The academic support program focuses on fostering a safe, welcoming environment where children can feel supported and encouraged to learn.  Our homework help and educational and physical enrichment activities create learning opportunities that supplement school-time instruction and aid in developing the whole child.

Financial Literacy
The Financial Literacy program focuses on areas critical to aiding residents in making sound financial decisions. Through the facilitation of financial education programs for youth and adults that focus on personal finances, money management and budgeting, banking, tax preparation, home ownership, and end-of-life financial planning, residents are becoming empowered to take steps that lead to financial stability and wealth creation for themselves and future generations.

Health & Wellness
Helping residents, young, adults, and seniors, maintain or improve their well-being through proper diet, exercise, stress management, illness prevention, and chronic disease management is the hallmark of Better Tomorrows' health, wellness, and nutrition program. Staff work with partners from the spectrum of health and wellness disciplines.  Health and wellness workshops, healthy cooking demonstrations, health screenings, health fairs, and food distributions all lend to Better Tomorrows’ effort to provide access to and engage residents in educational programming and activities that affect positive overall health outcomes.

Job Readiness & Stability Program
Better Tomorrows works to help residents develop new capabilities and move towards economic self-sufficiency by facilitating training opportunities to enhance residents’ job readiness and technical and employment skills. Through job search and application completion, resume–building, interview and employment skills, and computer literacy training, residents receive assistance from Better Tomorrows' staff and community partners that prepare economically vulnerable workers to enter, re-enter, or improve their position in the workforce with the tools necessary to acquire and maintain employment.  For seniors no longer in the workforce, there is a special focus on continuing education and opportunities for volunteerism.

Social & Community Engagement Program
Engaging residents in community-strengthening activities and recreational events promotes a sense of unity and community ownership. Residents are encouraged to work with staff to shape and promote initiatives that lead to greater social integration and collective responsibility for the neighborhood.
