Succeed2gether

We meet the unique needs of school-age students from Greater Montclair and Essex County, including East Orange, Bloomfield, Orange, and Newark, New Jersey. We provide free and affordable educational programs to these low-income students who may be at risk academically or who can excel with enrichment.

Current Educational Programs

After-School Tutoring Program (ASTP)
More than 100 students from the Montclair area in grades K-12 are tutored on a one-on-one basis by volunteer tutors, from the community. Tutors include retirees from industry and education, honors high-school students, and students from area colleges and universities. Students receive one-hour sessions in either math/science or language arts/social studies, at the Montclair Public Library. Tutoring includes pre and post-testing with tutors providing bi-annual progress reports. This program is run from September-May. We also have a book buddy program for students grades K-5, in which middle school students work with them on reading skills.

Weekend and Afterschool Workshops
Sunday afternoon small group workshops are offered in the Fall and Spring in Math FUNdamentals, Algebra Readiness, and Literacy/Language Arts. Sessions are taught by qualified teachers and instructors. Each session meets for five Sundays.

Summer Enrichment Program
Full-day summer enrichment program is offered to area students to help prevent the ‘summer slide’ so students can maintain their skills and enter the fall semester ready to achieve. Classes in math, science, language arts, art and music, and physical education are offered daily during this four-week session. This year we will be offering computer programming and will also provide an empowerment workshop for girls and boys addressing study skills, time management, social skills, and media. Classes are taught by qualified instructors in small-group sessions. Students receive meals. Day trips are included.

Resource Center Programs

Backpack Program
Eligible students from our ASTP are offered gratis backpacks filled with nutritious mealtime ingredients on a once-a-week basis to help our families in meal planning to fit their busy schedules. Students return empty backpacks and pick up filled ones.
